Newsmap · Effective September 23, 2026

This policy explains what information Newsmap collects, why, and what it does not do. Newsmap is built to work with as little data about you as possible.

Free version

The free version of Newsmap requires no account and no sign-up. It fetches publicly published news (RSS feeds) and shows it on a map. Newsmap does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you to use the free version.

A few preferences are stored only on your own device, and never leave it:

Premium subscription

Newsmap Premium is an optional, paid, auto-renewing subscription sold and billed entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Newsmap never receives your payment card number, billing address, or other payment details — Apple handles all of that directly, under Apple's own privacy policy.

To confirm you have an active subscription, the app sends Apple a subscription identifier (assigned by Apple, not by us) and asks Apple to confirm it's valid. We store this identifier so the app keeps working correctly across sessions. We do not receive your name, email address, or Apple ID from this process.

With an active subscription, Premium also sends:

If you use the "I don't want to see this news source again" option as a subscriber, that report is linked only to your subscription identifier, so the same subscriber can't be counted twice toward removing a source for everyone. It is never linked to your name or any other personal detail, because we don't have one to link it to.

What we don't do

Server logs

Like virtually any online service, our servers keep standard operational logs (timestamps, error messages) to keep Newsmap running reliably. These are used only for maintaining the service and are not used to build a profile of you.

Children's privacy

Newsmap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Effective" date above will be updated. Continued use of Newsmap after a change means you accept the revised policy.
